There are many options for local transportation on the island.  We generally recommend that visitors rent their own cars as the cost is typically very reasonable and it affords you the flexibility and safety of your own vehicle throughout your stay.

Other options include motorcycle rental which is without a doubt the most popular choice for visitors to Koh Lanta.  The Other Side generally has one or two motorcycles available for hire.  There are many other local rental operations around too if more are needed and we can help arrange this for our guests.

Three-wheeled "Lanta Tuk Tuks" are another good way to get around the island.  The Other Side has one available for hire but there may be times when it is needed for other purposes.  In that case we can absolutely help arrange this option through our local contacts.  Generally these are hired for a full or half day and prices can be negotiated with the driver.

Bicycling is a very popular mode of exercise on the island.  The other side has four bicycles available for use by our guests.  It is not recommended however that these be used as your sole mode of transportation.

Getting Around Koh Lanta

What to Bring

Getting Here

There are several ways to get to Koh Lanta depending on your point of embarkation.

Bangkok offers several flights a day from both airports to Krabi International Airport for very reasonable prices.  We can help arrange van transportation from the airport to the villas easily so please feel free to request this service when reserving your villa.  The trip takes about 1.5 to two hours depending on the ferry wait.

From Krabi one can either take a van-taxi or rent their own vehicle.  Prices for either can change depending on the season, but rates for vans range from 2000 to 2500 THB and rental vehicles are between 1000 to 2000 THB per day depending on the promotions available.

There are ferries as well operating routes between Koh Lanta and several other islands in the region.  Phuket Ferry is a good starting point for scheduling and prices:

Once arriving on ferry you will need transportation to the southern tip of the island where our villas are located.  We can help arrange this as well if you request
